Click on each program's name to obtain more information about eligibility and registration. Also, ask insurance carriers in your county if they offer low-cost coverage for young adults.

  • CHIP | Children's Medicaid
  • Texas families with uninsured children may be able to get health insurance through Children's Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Both programs offer health care benefits, including regular checkups and dental care.

  • Texas Health Options
  • TexasHealthOptions.com is a one-stop resource of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) that can help you find health care coverage. The web links on the left-hand column of each page will connect you with useful information for all health insurance consumers. Or select the consumer profile that best describes you in the box at the top of each page to view specific options for your situation.

Whether you're a parent or guardian, person with a disability, senior, college student, person who is unemployed or other Texas individual seeking health care coverage, or a small business or mid-sized or large employer seeking coverage for your employees, this website can provide the information, advice, and connections to resources you need.

  • Medicaid
  • Medicaid is a program that pays for medical assistance for certain individuals and families with low incomes and resources. This program became law in 1965 and is jointly funded by the Federal and State governments (including the District of Columbia and the Territories) to assist States in providing medical long-term care assistance to people who meet certain eligibility criteria. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and health-related services for people with limited income.

  • Medicare
  • Our Medicare section offers comprehensive, official information provided by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. The official government handbook, "Medicare & You," includes sections on Medicare coverage choices, choosing a prescription plan, financial assistance, your Medicare rights, and more.
